Manufacturing Design Engineer - All Levels

We are recruiting for Level 2 Manufacturing Design with 5 to 7 years of experience designing and supporting CNC machining. You will use state of the art engineering and CAD tools, be part of a high-performance team, and develop next generation technology. The work you perform will benefit machinists and machine operators by streamlining setups, clarifying processes, and defining workholding requirements for machined parts. Use your passion for design and manufacturing to improve CNC machining performance. Perform mechanical design to support CNC machining operations and assembly operations. Design processes and tooling including layout of work holding, fixtures, and tooling to benefit machinists and machine operators by streamlining setups, clarifying processes, and defining fixturing requirements for machined parts. Design shop aids, gauges, and other tools to improve processes.

Compensation ranges from $22/hr to $35/hr depending on skill set and experience. Competitive benefits include 2 weeks paid time off, 8 paid holidays, matching 401K, and contributions toward employee health insurance.

The candidates must have the following basic skills:

 Key Responsibilities

  1. Mechanical Design of workholding and fixture design including 3D Modeling, Detailing, and Drafting with consideration of performance/function, manufacturing processes, cost, ease of use/ergonomics, safety, aesthetics, maintainability, etc.
  2. 2D drafting of assembly drawings of fixtures with setup procedures, alignment/inspection requirements, functional requirements, and other useful information for machinists and operators
  3. Modeling of in process CNC operations
  4. Adherence to schedules, company procedures, and customer expectations
  5. BOM's, Revisions/ECN's, Documentation
  6. GD&T, Tolerance Stack up analysis
  7. DFM, DFA
  8. Draft Manufacturing and Assembly Plans including inspection, order of operations, etc
  9. Collaboration with machine shop and assembly during machine builds and checkout
  10. As Built Drawing Revisions
  11. Effective communicator verbal and written
  12. Use of CMM and Laser Tracker

Experience

  1. Background and experience in CNC machining and fixture design
  2. 5 years minimum SolidWorks experience preferred, Autodesk Inventor experience is applicable
  3. Experience with PLM or PDM system preferred. Experience with Revision control is required.
  4. Understanding and experience with machined parts, weldments and fabrications, and castings
  5. Experience with Print reading and ASME Y14.5 GD&T
