Project Manager - Level 3

We are recruiting for Level 3 Project Manager with 7 to 10 years of experience designing, building, and supporting electromechanical systems throughout the lifecycle. If you have a knack for figuring out how to keep projects on schedule, have a passion for engineering and manufacturing, and are passionate about supporting clients, then this may be your next career.  The candidates must have the following skills:

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensure projects meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Ensure projects are profitable.
  • Ensure that our projects are on time. 
  • Provide exceptional client service to build our portfolio, improve customer retention and provide growth.

Project Communication

  • Ensure all parties understand expectations, deliverables, dependencies, risks, progress, and process.
  • Weekly project budget update, progress report, and schedule report
  • Lead weekly Client calls
  • Effective communicator verbal and written
  • Maintain meeting minutes and action items
  • Client Communication and Management
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Build a knowledgebase of each client’s business, organization, and objectives
  • Daily client communication and manage day-to-day client interaction
  • Establish, and manage, client expectations
  • Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.

Resource Management

  • Determine Project Roles of team members based upon project requirements, timeframes, and budget.
  • Determine needs for external contractors and skilled labor when necessary
  • Define skill sets and competencies required for the project based upon specifications and requirements.
  • Determine resource requirements (including staffing, software, hardware, and facilities) of projects, based upon project specification.
  • Scheduling of Staff, Facility, Capital Equipment, Tools
  • Facility Planning & WIP management for Design/Build projects
  • Supplier Management and Procurement oversite to ensure materials arrive at proper time

Project accounting and finance

  • Understand revenue models, p/l, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly
  • Understands pricing model and billing procedures
  • Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability, and margins.
  • Assures project legal documents are completed and signed
  • Work with attorney to create legal documents for new opportunities and situations
  • Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
  • Create project budget, and manage project budget
  • Assure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for a project
  • Establish forecast of all expenditures, and track burn rate

Project planning & scheduling

  • Establish a master schedule in LiquidPlanner. Update daily, weekly, and monthly for all phases of a project. 
  • Use Gantt chart and project timelines to track and communicate milestones
  • Assure interim milestones are met
  • Prevent schedule slippage. Determine ways to make up time if slippage occurs.
  • Provide time-to-complete estimates
  • Explain implications of changes to project scope and or objectives to the client and the project team.  
  • Lead the team to prioritize weekly project work based on analysis of strategic importance, tasks outstanding, obstacles or barriers, budgets, resources, and deadlines.
  • Create or participate in the creation of project documentation
  • Scheduling of Staff, Facility, Capital Equipment, Tools

Project Control

  • Manage scope creep through client change orders, internal change orders, phased delivery or other methods to ensure projects deliver on timeline, scope, budget, and strategy expectations.
  • Evaluate all key project deliverables, as well as final product to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality and client acceptance.
  • Responsible for formal sign off on all project deliverables.
  • Ensure project meets internal and client expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery timelines, and strategy
  • Identify, track, manage, and mitigate risk on specific client engagements.  Escalate these issues when necessary to ensure minimal impact to quality, budget, and timeline.

Technical Performance

  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to assure that system, product, or deliverable satisfies all technical requirements
  • Confirm validity of technical approach
  • Continuous tracking of technical performance status
  • Work with project engineer to implement systems and engineering methods & practices

Experience

  1. Background and experience in machine design, product design, or precision manufacturing
  2. Experience managing programs or projects with multiple phases
  3. Experience designing and building precision machinery or systems with multiple subsystems and more than 10,000 components
  4. Experience with PLM or PDM system preferred. Experience with Revision control is required.
  5. Experience with traditional and agile project management methods
